The Selective Gospel

...Picture Christ coming back like a thief in the night came

Riding a white horse with the force of a night train
Heaven's open behold and overthrowing your dice game
With His pure and Holy vision eyes blazing just like flames
And nothing can escape the penetration of His holy gaze...

The text above is a short extract from a Gospel song (Flame & Shai Linne - 2nd Coming) which I find quite thought provoking. While I was listening to this song the first time I thought about how happy I was to find music like this. Lyrics that have actual depth and meaning without compromising on musical quality.

As the song continued I  immediately thought about how hard it sometimes is to share a direct message in the world we are living in. It seems like we first need to prepare, justify or clarify the meaning beforehand. The lyrics that made me think about this are as follows:

... When the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
Heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire; dealing our
Retributions to those who do not know God and to those
Who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. Salvation is
Obeying the Gospel, refusing to obey the Gospel results in
Judgement. Obey the Gospel and these will pay the penalty
Of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord
And from the glory of His power. When He comes to be
Glorified in His saints on that day and to be marvelled at
Among all those who have believed - for our testimony to
You was believe. So He's going to come - He is going to
Judge the ungodly. And the Bible says, those of us who are
Saved; we are going to marvel; this is going to be an
Amazing thing
He could be coming back tonight...

Why is the world around us like this, and why do we think this way? Everything in this song is Scripturally correct and even though we should be proclaiming this truth every chance we get, we seem to be more focussed on not disturbing the eggshells we 're walking on.

In general, I believe most of us like to think about Heaven and how wonderful it will be, but we don’t want to think about Hell, never mind ever telling the world around us about it…

Now, please know I am everything but happy about the topic of Hell, but if there is no Hell then there is no need for what Jesus did for us on the cross. We can’t just decide what we like and leave out the rest. Jesus talked and warned about Hell numerous times, so I doubt we should avoid the topic in the way so many of us generally do.

Please know that in no way am I saying that we should be proclaiming Hell damnation from the rooftops, but I do believe we have a responsibility to share the truth. The whole truth. We are here for a reason and part of that reason is to give Hope to a hopeless world around us. Yes, we should be sensitive to the world around us, and to the emotions of the people we do life with, but more important than anything: We should be sensitive to the Spirit and how He leads us. We should never sit back when we are lead to share a difficult message, because it is only through this that we can see change.

May God lead us all in truth and courage.
